2021 Dodge Charger near Silver City NM Boasts Attitude and Power

The 2021 Dodge Charger near Silver City NM is a gorgeous American performance sedan that ranges from sensible to sensational. It's a four-door muscle car that offers attitude and power with just a dose of practicality.

A sensible sedan shopper is looking for an attractive exterior with a comfortable interior, a good engine that's fuel efficient, but doesn't sacrifice too much power, and probably a few of the latest driver assist and safety features. The passionate enthusiast wants the biggest and most powerful motor available in a 4-door, a wide-body kit with outrageously wide wheels, and a top speed over 200 mph. The newest Dodge Charger is the perfect sedan for both of these vastly different car buyers.

PERFORMANCE

The six trims offered up on the Charger are so varied; you'd be hard pressed to believe they're all the same model. Entry level trims come with a V6 motor and can be equipped with all wheel drive. Under the hood of the topmost trim sits a 797-horsepower supercharged V8 engine, and there are enough bold colors and graphics options to satisfy even the most daring driver. In-between these two extremes are tons of options packages and even more engine choices to tailor the Charger to be exactly what you want.

Available trims for the 2021 Dodge Charger near Silver City NM include: SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, and the SRT Hellcat Redeye. An 8-speed automatic transmission is used by all models and rear wheel drive comes standard, although the SXT and GT can be had with all wheel drive.

Up next are the available engines:

  • SXT - 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (292 hp & 260 lb-ft torque)
  • GT and AWD SXT & GT- 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (300 hp & 264 lb-ft)
  • RT - 5.7-liter V8 (370 hp, 395 lb-ft)
  • Scat Pack - 6.4-liter V8 -also called the 392- (485 hp, 475 lb-ft)
  • SRT Hellcat - supercharged 6.2-liter V8 (717 hp, 650lb-ft)
  • SRT Hellcat Redeye - more powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V8 (797 hp, 707 lb-ft)

The basic V6 Pentastar that comes standard in the lower trims is more than enough for city and highway driving. It has lively acceleration and plenty of power for merging onto interstates and higher speed passing. Choose the V8 and you're getting into the muscle car realm where your head is pushed back when you punch the gas. Move up to a Hellcat and you'll get a shot of adrenaline (and a thudding heart rate) when you put the pedal to the metal!

2021 DODGE CHARGER NEAR SILVER CITY NM: GAS MILEAGE

If you value good fuel efficiency - keep looking! The 2021 Dodge Charger near Silver City NM isn't the car for you! With the V6 motor, it gets 19 city, 30 highway and it only gets lower when you put in the V8 (although highway mileage isn't too bad with 25 mpg for the 392). But chances are if you're thinking about a Charger, you're not worried about fuel consumption anyway; you want to go fast!

DRIVING

Driving dynamics of the Charger really depend on the trim level. The SXT and GT versions show poised handling around turns and absorb bumps and dips nice and comfortably. The Chargers with V8s have tighter suspensions to better handle all that power, which means they're more athletic on twists and turns, but the ride isn't as cushioned (who cares when you have real power?!).

Recent 0-60 mph times haven't been released for all 2021 models, but based on models with the same power setup, expect the SXT and GT to accelerate in about 6 ½ seconds, while the R/T trim does it in about 5 ½. Getting up to 60 mph in the Scat Pack takes just 4.3 seconds, and the Charger Hellcat makes the sprint in only 3.6! The same time is made by the Redeye, but it can do the quarter mile 0.36 seconds faster than the Hellcat and its top speed is a phenomenal 203 mph!

INTERIOR

The 2021 Dodge Charger near Silver City NM seats five people and has a functionally designed cabin with lots of room front and back. Seats in the front are supportive and nicely bolstered for keeping you secure when your Charger is taking on curves. The rear seats will keep even three adults comfortable on shorter trips. Unfortunately, the interior isn't really upscale, but again, if you're interested in a Charger, frou-frou isn't really your thing anyway.

The Charger includes the user-friendly Dodge Uconnect infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen as standard. It makes use of clean graphics, simple menus, and fast responses. Physical buttons and knobs are included as well.  Other standard features include a 6-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. And while most sedans include two LATCH setups for children's car seats, the Charger comes with three.

An 8.4 touchscreen is optional, as is a six- or nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, HD radio, WiFi hotspot, and navigation. Dual-zone climate control and a sunroof are also available.
