The stars of the show, however, will be the “Last Call” special-edition models inspired by Dodge’s illustrious heritage. Seven (between the Challenger and Charger) new limited-edition “buzz” models and a few different appearance packages will pay homage to the end of an era. For the Challenger, these include:

2023 Dodge Charger

As things wind down for the Challenger, the same goes for the four-door Charger. As a nod to their origin, the plaques will also say “Designed in Auburn Hills” and “Assembled in Brampton.” The 5.7-liter Charger will get the 345 badges as well. Even though the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was to be a one-time offering back in 2020, the company has brought it back for the 2023 model year. Under its hood is the same 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8 that puts out 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, which gets it from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and does the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds! To stop this beast from its 180-mph top speed, six-piston, two-piece front calipers are fitted over 15.8-inch front rotors, and four-piston calipers fit over the 13.8-inch vented rear rotors.

The other five iterations of the Durango will also be available for 2023, beginning with the base Durango. It has a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing capacity for this one is just 6,200 lbs, but if you need more oomph, there are two V8 engines from which to choose: the 5.7-liter V8 makes 360 hp with 390 lb-ft, or the 6.4-liter V8, which provides 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.

The New Hornet

With room for five passengers, the all-new Dodge Hornet is the most potent CUV in its class. The entry-level all-wheel-drive GT model puts out 265 hp from a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder, and the R/T trim is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) delivering 285 hp and over 30 miles of all-electric driving.

The Wagoneer S is aimed at becoming the EV successor to the Grand Cherokee, since it will have a two-row configuration (unlike the existing (three-row) Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer). When you need a vehicle that can accommodate more than five people at a time and can tow a large trailer, there’s really only one option for you, and that’s a big truck-based (body on frame) SUV. Only a handful of car manufacturers offer one, but the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer in Las Cruces, NM is the newest contender to join the segment. Changes for 2023

The Jeep Wagoneer returns this model year with a lengthier Wagoneer L and a posher Grand Wagoneer L. A new blacked-out appearance package called Carbide is also available; with it, you get black exterior trim details, gloss-black wheels, and unique trim and upholstery inside.

Another modification is the addition of two twin-turbo inline-6-cylinder engines that improve upon the V8s from last year. One puts out 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque for the Wagoneer, and the other delivers a robust 510 hp with 500 lb-ft of twist in the Grand Wagoneer. Fuel efficiency also improves with the straight-6 engines.

Assisted by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, it growls like the classic American V8. The base Grand Wagoneer is more powerful and louder, with an output of 471 horses and 455 lb-ft. An effortless 8-speed automatic transmission is paired with every engine and helps the entire Wagoneer lineup tow up to an incredible 10,000 pounds. 

Although the Jeep Wagoneer is heavy, you and your passengers will enjoy a velvety-smooth ride, courtesy of its softly tuned suspension.
