The Jeep Wrangler is an American icon in its off-road performance and pop culture status and is practically in a class by itself. Yes, it has a few competitors in the off-road SUV segment of the automotive industry, but as the slogan says…There’s only one Jeep! The current generation of Wrangler won Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year for 2019 and is truly the best version we’ve seen. A few changes increase the capabilities, style, and technology for the refreshed 2024 Jeep Wrangler in Las Cruces, NM.
New but Still Looks Like a Wrangler
Even though the base Wrangler Sport does have the same front end as before, all other trims of the new Wrangler just appear to have the same look. Look closely, and you’ll notice each slot of the classic seven-slot grille is now blacked-out, more distinct, and slimmer, making an easier fit for the factory-installed 8,000-lb capacity War winch that can be mounted to the bumper on Rubicon models. Two tow hooks are also on the front bumper and one at the rear. Ten new wheel options are also now available.
The most notable changes for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler are on the inside. A new 12.3-inch touchscreen, which features FCA’s latest UConnect 5 software and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, can be found in all models and trim levels. As part of the new Trails Offroad guide, an onboard navigation system with integrated trail maps for Jeep’s 62 Badge of Honor trails (and the ability to download over 2,000 more!) is also available. Up to seven USB ports are scattered throughout the cabin, and a 115-volt outlet is available.
An active noise-cancellation feature will make the cabin quieter if you need to take a call while on the road. Another improvement is the integration of the external whip antenna into the windshield’s glass.
2024 Jeep Wrangler in Las Cruces, NM: Safety
Due to not-so-great crash test performance in the past, you may have been cautious about buying a Jeep Wrangler. The new version now comes equipped with first- and second-row side curtain airbags on all trim levels, which will improve safety scores.
All trims above the base level now have front auto emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Depending on the trim you choose, other driver-assist and active safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and more.
What About Power?
The same powertrains carry over for the new model year. The base is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that provides 270 hp, a 3.6-liter V6 producing up to 285 hp is also available, and if you crave power, there’s a 6.4-liter V8, rated at 470 hp, though it’s limited to the Rubicon 392.
A PHEV option combines a 2.0-liter turbo-four with a pair of electric motors that generate 375 hp. These electric motors are strong enough to drive the Jeep in 4WD mode up to 22 miles, thanks to the 17.3-kWh battery.
You can have a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission with the 2024 Jeep Wrangler in Las Cruces, NM, although the V8 and plug-in hybrid only get the automatic.
