Never Fear! The RAM 1500 REV near Silver City, NM Will Soon be Here!

If you missed the RAM electric truck commercial during the “Big Game” back in February and have a good sense of humor, you owe it to yourself to watch it. Go to YouTube and type in “RAM Premature Electrification,” and enjoy the one-minute video that will put a smile on your face, if not an actual LOL! It features Emmy-nominated actor Jason Jones as he speaks about real anxieties customers may have about buying an EV, including power, payload, and range. The kicker is the deadpan presentation that mimics TV ads about certain other problems.

In an effort to quell concerns about EV truck ownership, Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer for Stellantis, said the light-hearted commercial’s intent is to let truck shoppers know that the company has been listening to their concerns over the last few years as they prepare to launch the RAM 1500 REV near Silver City, NM. The 60-second ad also signified the official opening of customer reservations for a spot in line to pre-order the truck at ramrev.com.

What is the RAM 1500 REV near Silver City, NM?

The forthcoming all-electric RAM 1500 REV will undoubtedly shake up the truck world, and that’s what everyone at RAM wants. Following in the footsteps of already available full-size electric pickups like the Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning, the RAM 1500 REV promises impressive towing capability and increased range, two very important aspects of electrification that worries buyers.

The RAM 1500 REV is essentially a battery-powered version of the gasoline-powered RAM 1500. Like its rivals, the RAM 1500 REV is built on a sturdy body-on-frame chassis, just like a traditional pickup, and its appearance is similar to the gas-powered version. Currently, the model being shown is a crew-cab with a short bed.

Power and Performance

You’ll have the option of two different battery packs in the RAM 1500 REV, each with its own exclusive benefits, but both will have standard all-wheel drive. One model will have a 168-kWh battery, which will tow up to 14,000 pounds (depending on options packages), be less expensive, and have 654 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. Its payload capacity is set for 2700 pounds. It should get up to 350 miles of range.

The other model will boast a 229-kWh battery that’s good for up to 500 miles of range, but more details are still under wraps. It will likely have a lower towing capacity since a larger battery pack increases curb weight. (And just FYI, the current F-150 Lightning has a max towing capacity of just 10,000 lbs.)
To allow quick DC fast-charging of up to 350 kWh, the company says the 1500 REV will use an 800-volt architecture. That’s about 100 miles of range for every 10 minutes of charging. It will also offer four-wheel steering for a tighter turning radius, and an adjustable air suspension that can lower the truck for easier loading and maximum efficiency on the highway, or increase your ground clearance for off-road use.

RAM says to expect the 0-60 mph sprint to take only 4.4 seconds.

Interior

Just as the gas-powered RAM led the way for luxurious truck interiors, the RAM 1500 REV near Silver City, NM will surely follow suit. The new REV Tungsten trim is at the pinnacle of the lineup, and sets the precedent for upscale, with over-the-top premium features.

And without an internal combustion engine and other bulky components beneath the hood, we suspect the REV will provide innovative ways to increase storage. For example, the “frunk” on the new RAM features an available onboard power panel that will provide up to 3.6kW of power. It also offers 15 cubic feet (Best in Class) of weatherproof storage space.
